Bolga: Motorbike Snatcher Kills Young Man In Zorkor

A young man in his late thirties has  been shot and killed by unknown assailants in Zorkor-Tarongo, a community in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region.

The attack which occurred on the evening of Monday January 11, 2021 left the deceased with gunshot wounds and another deep cut in the stomach in what community members suspect to be a stab and his motor bike snatched.

A community member identified as Samuel Atanga told the Monday evening suspected robbery attack which took the life of the unidentified young man is one of several incidents the community has recorded in the past few weeks.

He disclosed that commuters between two communities in the area namely Zorkor and Pulmogo Sirigu have been victims of armed robbery attacks and the seizure of motorbikes by armed men.

The situation according to him is as a result of lack of police presence on the stretch.

“This is just one of the many attacks that have been happening on that road. There is a bridge that has collapsed on that road and so anytime one is using the road you can easily be attacked because the road is not good and there are no police officers. They used to have a check point for motors but that has stopped. We need to raise this matter seriously because it is serious,” he said.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Bolgatanga hospital morgue for identification.
