    Confirmed coronavirus cases hit 5m worldwide

    The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has reached over 5 million according to the Covid-19 tracker, Worldometer.

    The Chines government says the virus was detected as early as 17th November 2019 which has spread to 213 countries and territories around the world and 2 international conveyances. 

    As of 20th May 2020, over 5 million people have contracted the novel coronavirus with about 326,000 people dying as a result. Close to 2 million have recorded from the virus.

    The United States of America leads the chart with over 1.6 million confirmed cases were about 94,000 of its citizens losing their lives.

    There are currently no vaccines for the new strain of Coronavirus but the World Health Organization(WHO) and affected countries have instituted measures to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

    In Ghana, over 6,000 people have been infected with the virus whereas close to 2,000 have recovered. 31 persons have died.
