- There was a disagreement between residents of Sumbrungu and Sirigu regarding the situation of the Airport
The Upper East Regional Minister has neither denied nor accepted claims that the Upper East Regional Airport project originally sited in Sumbrungu in the Regional Capital Bolgatanga has been moved to Navrongo. Earlier Last year there was confusion between residents of Sumbrungu and Sirigu over the relocation of the Airport from its original site at Sumbrungu where several hectares of land was cleared to make way for the regional airport. This generated tensions between the two neighbouring communities in the Bolgatang Municipality.
However, stakeholders and traditional leaders of the region moved in swiftly t resolve the issue. Nonetheless, there is a rumour that the project has been moved by the regional minister and minister for Aviation to the Navrongo, the hometown of the two ministers.
But responding to questions posed by the host of Day Break Upper East, Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio which was monitored by harmattangh.com, the Upper East Regional Minister – Tangoba Abage could not deny nor accept the rumour and said she cannot provide answers about the airport since she is not the Minister for Aviation. She referred the host to the Hon. Kofi Adda for all questions relating to the Upper East Regional Airport.
