    Meet the only NPP Parliamentary Candidate in history who nearly took Bongo Seat from NDC

    A product of the Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School, Madam Diana Aburiya Asuure has been a lecturer at the Bolgatanga Polytechnic for the past 15 years. She has to her tall CV, an MBA from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Diploma from the University of Education.

    Madam Diana has been a vibrant member of the Ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for over two decades: Serving the party in various roles and capacities. She remains the only female candidate to ever win the parliamentary primaries and the only candidate to ever pull the highest number votes against the NDC in the Bongo Constituency.

    In 2004, whilst NPP was in government, Hon. Andrews Awuni pulled a large margin raised the number of votes from 599 to 10,311. However, in 2008, NPP filed a new face who could not maintain the 2004 figure but shredding the number votes to 9,817. In 2012, the NPP sought to bring a new face again, this time, a vibrant Woman and a mother who appealed to all sections of the society. This time, she was not only able to raise the number of votes for the NPP to a record high, but she gave the Albert Abongo, the NDC then parliamentary candidate, a run for his money as she nearly whisked away from the NDC the Parliamentary seat.

    Madam Diana Aburiya Asuure has served the NPP since 1992. She was the Deputy Women’s Organizer of the NPP in 2010 and prior to her filing her form to contest for the primaries this year, served as a member of the NPP Research and Intelligence Committee of the Upper East Region.
