A Ghanaian music band, Fra Fra debuted the World Music Charts (WMCE) Europe in June 2020 with their album “Funeral Songs”.
The seven-track album was recorded wholly live outdoors without overdubs.
The 2-string guitar tagged with dog tags hitherto referred to as Kologo, a mixture of shaker percussion and whistles were used to produce the raw album.
The Fra Fra music band debuted sixth on the WMCE charts in June 2020 with their album, “Funeral Songs” produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Ian Brenna, Tinaweren, Ustad Saami, The Good One, and Zomba prison project.
The seven songs, Destiny, You can’t escape death, Naked, Helpless, Goodbye, I will follow you for life and We must grieve together, were released in May 2020, through the Glitterbeat label.
The WMCE charts normally feature 10 albums selected by radio producers and presenters around Europe.
The top 10 are then played for a month throughout Europe via various radio stations, and an official colour print is displayed in various stores.
Who are the Fra Fra Music Band ?
The relatively unknown music band is from the Upper East region. The folk trio group named themselves after the Frafra people.
Fra Fra is led by a 73-year-old man who wants to be called “Small”. For unknown reasons, the other two members don’t want to known. They don’t have names.There is so much fuss about this group.
From what we gather at Harmattangh.com, Ian Brenna discovered the group in 2018 while on his project in the West African country.
They had been performing as live soundtrackers for funerals for over thirty years prio do their discovery.
